Hamstrings

Hamstrings comprise three muscles – biceps femoris, semimembranosus, and semitendinosus – at the back of the thigh. Hamstring tendons attach the muscles to bones in the pelvis, knee and lower leg. They contribute towards bending the knee, extending the hip, and rotating the hip.

The hamstring muscles are susceptible to injuries, especially when running and sprinting. Sudden movements such as stopping, slowing down or changing direction also strain the muscles.

How can Harakaty help?

Our movement program will improve functional performance of the hamstrings, and address issues in the areas shown in the image above, with the following outcomes:

  • Alleviate pain and inflammation
  • Elongate the muscle fibers
  • Strengthen supporting muscles
  • Reduce loading and nerve compression
  • Enhance muscle and tendon strength
  • Promote muscle coordination
  • Restore joint mobility
  • Increase blood circulation
  • Improve proprioception and balance
  • Address compensatory patterns
